Dr.Suzanne J. Smith, VMD
Dr. Suzanne Smith is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She Received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. Dr. Smith has been involved in the veterinary community as a former President of the NJ Veterinary Medical Association. She founded the New Jersey Animal Hall of Fame. She has served as Chair of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society and she served several years on their Admission Committee. Additionally, Dr. Smith has served in the past on committees of the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Dr. Smith was a member of NJ Governor’s Lyme Disease Advisory Committee. She served several terms on the Executive Board of Mane Stream, a therapeutic riding center, in Oldwick, NJ. She currently serves on the board of Riding With Heart, a therapeutic riding center in Pittstown, NJ. Dr. Smith has spent the last fifteen years involved in NAVS (Native American Veterinary Services) as a veterinary volunteer on several of the poorer reservations in the Southwest performing surgical procedures and providing veterinary care for horses and small animals. As part of her efforts in NAVS she dedicated time mentoring and teaching veterinary and pre-veterinary students in New Mexico and Arizona.
Dena CastellaniVeterinary Assistant
Dena Castellani began working here in 2011, and has a multitude of animals at her home, including miniature horses, Nigerian Dwarf goats, dogs, a cat, a rabbit, and a hamster. Dena attended Raritan Valley Community College where she obtained her Associates in Biology before continuing her education at the University of Maryland - College Park, where she graduated with her Bachelors in Animal Science in May 2018. Dena was accepted and will be attending veterinary school beginning in fall 2018 at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine where she will be tracking as a Mixed Animal Practitioner (Projected Graduation of August 2022). Her dog Angel will be accompanying her during her years at veterinary school. During her breaks, you can find her here working mostly evening shifts and Saturday mornings. Her hope is to come back to New Jersey upon graduation.
Ashley MeyerVeterinary Assistant
Ashley has been at Spring Mills Veterinary Hospital since 2014. She has three cats, and also takes care of her German Shepherd 'nephew'. Before she started working at Spring Mills, she was an animal control officer at her local SPCA. Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding and was a gymnastics coach for several years.
Samantha GaffneyVeterinary Assitant
Sam started working at Spring Mills in 2019. Her love for animals started at a very young age, and she began working in the veterinary field when she was in high school. When she is not at work, she can usually be found spending time with her dogs, or her horse. She enjoys dog training, and does agility with her dogs. She is currently in school to become a certified veterinary technician.
Tabitha BurhamVeterinary Assistant
Tabitha began working at Spring Mills Veterinary Hospital in 2021. Tabitha began her career with animals working at an SPCA in 2006. She has had many kinds of pets in the past- lizards, frogs, turtles, fish, dogs and cats. She currently has one dog and one cat. In her free time, she enjoys going to car and motorcycle events.
Amanda ChristophersonVeterinary Assistant
Amanda started working at Spring Mills Veterinary Hospital in 2021. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2018. She currently has one dog at home. In her free time, she enjoys reading, knitting, and playing video games.
Morgan KaniaVeterinary Assistant
Morgan began at Spring Mills Veterinary Hospital as an intern, and then was hired in 2020. She is currently in college pursuing a biology degree. She has both a dog and a cat at home.
Deb Marakowitz, CVTVeterinary Technician
Deb has worked at Spring Mills Veterinary Hospital in the past, and began working with us again in 2021. At home, she has several dogs, cats and horses.
